About Us

Protecting Our Communities

The Center for Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security (CCIS) is a Maryland based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to strengthening the security and resilience of critical infrastructure across the United States. Guided by a community centered approach, CCIS bridges the missions of federal partners, academic institutions, private sector innovators, and local communities to advance preparedness, protection, and recovery for our most vulnerable populations.

We recognize that cyber and physical threats increasingly intersect and that underserved communities, small organizations, local governments, and frontline infrastructure operators often lack the resources needed to defend against them. CCIS exists to close that gap through collaborative programs, research driven solutions, capacity building, and a strong commitment to equity in security.

Our Mission

To protect and strengthen critical infrastructure by advancing mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery efforts in partnership with academia, industry, government, and community organizations.

We are committed to delivering sustainable, inclusive, and community driven solutions that increase resilience for vulnerable populations and essential services.

Our Goals

Advance Cross
Sector Collaboration

Facilitate communication and coordination between academia, industry, government, and nonprofit partners to address emerging threats together.

Build Resilient
Communities

Enhance the cyber and physical security posture of vulnerable communities, small organizations, and essential service providers through training, assessments, and preparedness initiatives.

Empower the Workforce of
Today and Tomorrow

Develop education and workforce programs that prepare the next generation of cybersecurity and infrastructure resilience professionals.

Who We Support

CCIS recognizes the importance of organizations that keep communities functioning from large state, local, tribal, and territorial (SLTT) agencies to volunteer led food assistance providers (FAPs), family owned public utilities, and small clinical and medical support (CMS) facilities such as dialysis centers and ambulatory care sites.

Their services are essential, and disruptions can have life safety consequences.

CCIS prioritizes vulnerable populations, resource constrained organizations, and critical services that maintain community safety and stability, including:

State, local, tribal, and territorial governments and statewide resilience initiatives
K–12 schools, higher education institutions, and state education agencies
Critical infrastructure owners and operators across all sectors (health, energy, transportation, water, communications, etc.)
Nonprofits, community based organizations, and volunteer led services
Small and mid sized businesses providing essential or life safety services
Healthcare facilities and public health networks
Organizations seeking to strengthen cybersecurity, resilience, or emergency preparedness capacity
